About us


The practice was started in the 1930s by Alfred P Turner in Midland Bank Chambers and he was subsequently joined by Charles A Smith. The practice developed and grew over the years moving firstly to offices in Granby Street.

After some expansion in the late 1980s the practice moved in 1993 to its purpose built offices at Royland Road in Loughborough. These offices provide a pleasant and modern working environment.


The practice currently has two partners, Roger Neal FCA and Janice Neal.  Roger Neal joined the practice as an articled clerk, and became a partner in 1978.  Roger is a qualified Audit Responsible Individual.  Janice Neal joined the practice in 2010, becoming a partner at the end of 2016.


The two partners are supported by a dedicated and professional team of staff.  We are committed to giving the best service to our clients and undergo a continuing program of in-house and external training to ensure our team continues to keep up-to-date with legislation and requirements.

With most of our staff having worked for the firm for 5 years or more, we are proud of the stability of our workforce and the continuity of service that this enables us to provide to our clients.  

Client Relationships

As well as offering a professional service, we are committed to providing ongoing added-value services, including a program of free in-house seminars on a range of topics.  These very popular events cover topics of particular interest and relevance to our clients, such as Inheritance Tax Planning, Budget updates etc.

In addition to our free seminar program, we provide regular Newsletters and Budget updates to ensure clients are kept appraised of current issues.

We are regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in the conduct of audit work and investment business.  Our sister organisation, APBS Limited t/a Aspire is an authorised Probate Practitioner, authorised by the ICAEW to carry out the reserved legal activity of non-contentious probate in England and Wales. 

To provide up to date information and services to our clients in an extremely fast changing world we are committed to the training of our team.

We are an ACCA Approved Employer (approved by the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants).  We demonstrate our commitment to ongoing training by sponsoring staff who are undergoing training as Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Accounting Technicians (AAT).   We are a Kaplan Training Partner.

We are also full members of the Mercia Training Group and all members of our team receive continuing professional education through a program of Mercia courses.


As our clients would expect, we utilise the latest accounts production and taxation software.

We also offer our clients various technical services, including the supply of bookkeeping systems, together with installation, training and ongoing support.
